Apparently, blogging is still a thing. In fact, the writing and literary community says it's one of the must-do things that authors should do to build their author platform. What's an author platform? In short, it is your internet presence and the vehicle by which you communicate with your audience. In the end, these people are the people that publishers count as units sold by a product called a book. Writing a weekly blog and newsletter on top of all the other content creation and social media engagement can be overwhelming. For one person to juggle all of this requires hard work and discipline, which makes it sound like a total bore, and I begrudge it because it is something that I categorize under chores to be done. After all, I am working on other projects to turn out and manifest into the world, and by golly, they require my sweet nurturing, love, and care.Â
I have made resolutions to stick with this blogging because it is supposed to pay off if done consistently and regularly. I haven't been able to stick to it before, so this is the one time I AM DOING THIS BLOG thing. I have decided to make this more fun— write about anything I want to. This blog will just organically grow into whatever it is to become, which tends to be the case with my writing anyway. I say that because that happened as I wrote my book The Theory of 8. I set out to write a quick little fun book, which became a behemoth requiring me to have multiple experiences and then write about them.Â
I am honoring myself and my career and, most importantly, my commitment to helping myself and my work to be successful ventures here and now and in the future. I am solemnly swearing to myself to consistently write a weekly blog, even if it's about what I ate for dinner last night, and that's only if I can remember what I ate for dinner last night. So help me, please email me as an accountability buddy and gently remind me that I missed writing a blog, and you just can't go another minute without reading one of the never-ending ramblings I should be doing, but I am not. It could be a self-sabotage. Hmm?Â
So, please follow my blog and sign up for my weekly newsletter on my website so you may receive updates on my books and other projects that I am launching.
